Say Cheese!

The Week of Christy Unity has kept Christy busy, including the worship service at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on Monday, and service at the Armenian Patriarchate on Tuesday. Tonight’s service will take place in the Upper Room at Mount Zion, where tradition has it is the sight of Jesus’ Last Supper. In addition to taking in that service, the family and I will be taking in the service at the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.

Another recent highlight was fondue at the rooftop restaurant at Notre Dame. Sadly, Sadie is not a fan of Emmental cheese. More for the rest of us… Well, Christy and me.

    I tried to “Like” on wordpress, but it wanted me to sign in, then when I did, it said your site was private and wouldn’t take me anywhere unless (it seemed) I created my own site. [Heavy sigh.]

    Just wanted to let you know I appreciate your posts. The photographs are fabulous!!! Was the Notre Dame in Paris? or is there one in Israel?

    We are frozen in here. Canceled last Sat/Sun performances of BE MORE CHILL, and will probably have to do the same this weekend. Which is sad, but even more so because the show is SOOOOO good!! Eric and Bill W-D, and the choreogrpher all killed it! Good talent, some outstanding. And for the first time this season in the Jeffers, there were no sound problems in the first act. A few extraneous wonks in the second, but maybe we are getting close to solving all the glitches.

    Have you found any spots for trivia? Is it really hard to win trivia in a different country? I would guess so.

    Are you all fairly well-adjusted to the new life?

    We miss you!!

      Thanks for your update and kind words. Yes, I have the blog set up to send me messages for approval, after which they get published.

      The Notre Dame is in Jerusalem, across the street from the Old City’s New Gate. No trips to Paris just yet. 🙂

      Thrilled to hear about BE MORE CHILL being such a good show, though we’re saddened that the weather wouldn’t be less frigid and cause show cancellations.

      No leads on trivia (either to participate or to MC) just yet, but thank you for asking. It’s on my To Do list, but might not materialize until Year Two of our stay.

      I’ve been meaning to write to answer some questions Andrew had before we left: Yes, you still have to punch in a numerical code in order to start your car. Yes, cars with promotional stickers still have them (mostly) near the gas tank lid. And yes, there are definitely a lot more European and Asian brands represented here. While you do see some Teslas, for example, you see more BYD (Build Your Dream) electric vehicles on the road. Also more electric cars in general.

      We miss you all terribly. Stay safe in all this crazy weather. Much love from the Lohr Sapps.

      I do get comments, yes. Sorry about the privacy/login rigmarole.

      TBH, the kids have been to some of this week. Ours would revolt as well if we forced them to go every night. But, it’s been fascinating to be inside spaces I wouldn’t know of or be in otherwise. You really get a sense of how labyrinthine the Old City is in finding all the many religious spaces, and that even then you’re still just scratching the surface of how much exploring there is to be done and that we couldn’t accomplish in 10 years here.
